Fujifilm’s Instax Pal 2 is a palm-sized camera that somehow squeezes in a viewfinder

Fujifilm has announced two new additions to their famous Instax line of cameras and printers – the Instax Pal 2 and the Instax Link Wide.

If you’re not caught up with the Instax lineup, the original Instax Pal was a camera that, unlike the Instax cameras you may be familiar with, does not have a built-in photo printer. Instead, it was a palm-sized digital camera that was meant to work with external Instax Link printers.

The Instax Pal 2 retains that same purpose, but takes a whole different direction when it comes to design, looking more like a proper Fujifilm camera with the two-tone matte and ribbed texture.

It also comes with some additions compared to the original Pal. Importantly, this includes an (albeit tiny) viewfinder that, notably, is located on the top of the camera rather than on the back. It’s an interesting way to get around the Pal 2’s size.

Some of the refined design cues aren’t just for show, either. The Pal 2 features a command dial and lever on either side of the top of the camera.

The command dial allows you to switch between a series of effects to apply onto the shot. There are a total of five themes with six effects in each, making a total of 30 effects, though you can only load a single theme onto the Pal 2 at any one time, using the dedicated Instax Pal app.

As for the lever, it serves two functions. Pushing the lever away from the viewfinder allows you to switch between Mini, Square, Wide and No Frame shooting formats. Pushing the lever towards the viewfinder turns on Instax Animation mode, which captures a burst of up to 10 images, and combines them into a stop-motion flipbook animation.

The camera hardware has been improved as well. It now has a 1/3.06-inch sensor shooting at 10MP. The Pal 2 can now also store up to 100 photos (up from 50 in the original Instax Pal), but that’s before adding the microSD card, which the camera supports.

But how can you print these? Well, the Instax Pal 2 can connect to your phone via the Instax Pal app. Once that’s done, you can transfer the photos to your phone via USB (the camera has a USB-C port) or Bluetooth.

Instax Link Wide 2

Of course, with the photos on your phone, you’ll still need a printer. The Instax Pal 2 works with any Instax Link printer that Fujifilm has released, but one printer the company wants to spotlight is the new Instax Link Wide 2. 

The Link Wide 2 adds to its predecessor by introducing a Photo Mixer option, which creates a stylised collage based on images you choose, automatically adjusting design elements and the dimensions of the images so that the overall collage is cohesive.

Similar to the original Instax Link Wide, it prints in Fujifilm’s Wide format that the Instax Pal 2 supports, which measures 62 mm (H) x 99 mm (W) for the picture, and 86 mm x 108 mm for the frame. It’s a format mainly meant for horizontal and vertical, wider shots.

And beyond printing photos from the Instax Pal 2, the Instax Link Wide 2 can also print photos in your personal gallery taken from your smartphone. So if your just looking for that instant film aesthetic, you can still use the Link Wide 2 even if you don’t have a Fujifilm Instax camera.

Availability and Pricing

The Fujifilm Instax Pal 2 and Instax Link Wide 2 will be made available on 29 September 2026. The Instax Pal 2 will cost S$249, while the Link Wide 2 will cost S$279.
