Samsung Galaxy A27 5G: AI power for entry-level phones

Samsung has finally released its most accessible 2026 Android smartphone, and it’s none other than the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G.

For context, the Galaxy S series that many are familiar with are Samsung’s best-in-class devices, headlined by the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in 2026. A-series takes after the S-series but trims down pricey parts or fringe features in favour of affordability, as seen in the mid-range Samsung Galaxy A57 5G. To serve users that only need the minimum or barest of essentials, that’s where the Galaxy A27 5G here plays its part.

That said, the Galaxy A27 5G is no slouch, as Samsung tries to pack in modern features at a more accessible price point. Its 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display still has a 120Hz refresh rate, while packing in up to 25W wired fast charging and an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. It still uses a Qualcomm processor, albeit an entry-level one, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (one generation behind the current chipset).

An even greater highlight is that you still have access to critical Galaxy AI tools at this tier. Galaxy A27 5G has Circle to Search with Google for quick visual searches, Object Eraser to remove photobombers, Voice Transcription in the Voice Recorder app for speech-to-text, and AI assistants such as Google Gemini and Perplexity. Even its Bixby agent is an upgraded version with conversational, natural-language capabilities and phone controls.

The cherry on top is the six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, on top of six years of security updates (from product launch date, which is as of publishing this article). Other security perks come in the form of hardware-backed Samsung Knox, where your important data still stay within Knox Vault.

Samsung Galaxy A27 5G retails at S$418 (128GB storage) and S$498 (256GB storage) in Black, Blue, and Light Pink. There’s also the option to get Samsung Care+ if you want to extend the coverage of the device.
