Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Mega Dimension DLC comes out tomorrow, and there is finally official confirmation that the three Hoenn starters and their Megas will be in the game, but with a catch. Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s DLC comes around two months after the base game’s release, and it includes plenty of new features, returning Pokemon, and just under 20 exclusive Mega Evolutions. The DLC will let players explore a strange setting called Hyperspace Lumiose thanks to Hoopa’s powers, which are improved with the new baking minigame, where players feed the critter some donuts.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s features for the Mega Dimension DLC include a new, temporary level cap, giving players the option to get their Pokemon over level 100, a set of challenges to complete in Hyperspace Lumiose to unlock more areas and Pokemon, new Rogue Mega Evolution boss battles, and more. If the leaks are true, having 19 new Mega Evolutions in the DLC will be a big deal for fans, especially with some of them being dedicated to powerful Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, like Darkrai, Heatran, Zeraora, and Magearna. As for the returning Megas, now it’s all but confirmed that all will be in the game, including Mega Sceptile, Mega Blaziken, and Mega Swampert.
New Pokemon Legends: Z-A Code Gives Players Free Items
Pokemon Legends: Z-A players can now claim some new items via Mystery Gift, all of which may come in handy once the Mega Dimension DLC goes live.
Say Goodbye to Mega Sceptile, Mega Swampert, and Mega Blaziken in 2025
Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip are some of the most popular starters in Pokemon games ever, and the fact that they were not included in Pokemon Legends: Z-A upon launch made many players sad or disappointed. Considering that other Hoenn critters like Latias, Latios, and Rayquaza were missing, alongside their Mega Evolutions, it was plausible that the Gen 3 starters would return. This is now official, as players will not only be able to use Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert, but also their Megas.
However, the monkey’s paw curled while granting this wish, as they will be rewards exclusive to online ranked battles, much like Greninjite, Delphoxite, and Chesnaughtite. These will be awarded as follows:
- Mega Sceptile/Sceptilite: During Season 5, 6, and 7
- Mega Swampert/Swampertite: During Season 6 and 7
- Mega Blaziken/Blazikenite: During Season 7
For keen-eyed fans, there’s a gap there between the current season, which is Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s ranked Season 3, and when Mega Sceptile will first become available. This is because Season 4 will award the Mega Stone for Baxcalibur, starting on December 17. Since these seasons typically last three weeks, it’s likely that the first Mega Evolution for the Hoenn starters won’t be available for another month or so, probably on January 7 or 8, 2026.
This is bad news for those who hoped to use their beloved Gen 3 starter Pokemon in the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and while it’s not necessarily something new, considering the same approach was reserved for Gen 6 starters, it stings a bit. Those who particularly like Blaziken and its Mega will be the most disappointed, though, as the Pokemon may not be available until February 18, 2026, which is over two months away.
Fans will have to wait and see, but it’s unlikely that the current structure for seasons and rewards in Pokemon Legends: Z-A will change anytime soon. As such, even if Gen 3 starters become available tomorrow, when Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s DLC launches, their Mega Stones will only be available in quite some time. Luckily, the ranks necessary to get the Mega Stones are now much lower than in Season 1 for Greninjite, so players can expect a rather quick grind for Mega Sceptile, Mega Swampert, and Mega Blaziken.
