3 November 2026 update: After its Oct 2026 launch, the phone entered its international release phase. We’ve updated with key details at the bottom.

Also: Redmagic 12 Pro has 80W wired charging, whereas Pro+ has 120W. That’s the key difference between the China and global model.

It almost feels as if gaming phones are a dying breed. From the halcyon days of Xiaomi’s Blackshark, Asus ROG Phones and even the Razer Phones, we’re down to only a few actors in this space.

One of such example of a brand remaining active in this product category is Nubia’s gaming sub-brand Redmagic – it has just released the Redmagic 12 Pro+ in China, with a global release to follow.

The Redmagic 12 Pro+ comes with the generational upgrades you’d hope for in a high-end gaming phone – a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the latest and most powerful mobile chip from Qualcomm that was just unveiled last month.

We’ve covered the chipset improvements in our visit to Snapdragon Summit 2026, but to keep it short, the two prime cores have their clock speeds increased to 5.0GHz, alongside a 12% improvement to the Adreno GPU’s performance, and a myriad of AI improvements.

Other hardware upgrades come from the 8,400mAh-sized battery, which can be charged via 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. The Redmagic 12 Pro+ also comes with the proprietary Redcore R5 chip, which Redmagic says enables ray tracing, “resolution enhancement” of up to 2K (perhaps a nod to upscaling capabilities), and frame interpolation of up to 185Hz across supported titles.

That last one is a necessary feature considering the Redmagic 12 Pro+ has a display refresh rate of 185Hz, which not all titles will natively support. It pairs well with the phone’s Synaptics touch controller, which allows for an average touch sampling rate of 500Hz, with up to 5,000Hz of instantaneous sampling.
