The Pokémon Company has announced Dual Fusion, the next major expansion coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket in just over one week. The new expansion will mark the debut of dual-type cards for the game as well as a number of special packs and events to coincide with some big anniversaries. The expansion will be released on Oct. 28 at 6:00 p.m.
Dual Fusion coincides with TCG Pocket‘s second anniversary, making the expansion’s headlining feature feel apt. Dual-type cards, as the name suggests, give Pokémon two types rather than one and open up new strategies for play. For example, Mega Mewtwo X ex is a dual Psychic and Fighting-type card. While dual-type cards have been around for a while in the physical card game, Dual Fusion finally brings them to the mobile counterpart. The dual-type cards all come with some incredible illustrations as well, which you can check out below.
To celebrate the game’s second anniversary, a new event will run from Dual Fusion’s release until Dec. 14. During the campaign, players will be gifted a ticket that can be exchanged for a booster pack guaranteed to include a two-star card. Later, starting on Dec. 15, players can rent six Dual Fusion decks to test the new cards.
