M1 Maxx has upgraded its flagship S$12/month SIM-only plan from 500GB to 600GB, while also making that local data allowance usable in China. M1 Maxx says this makes it the first SIM-only plan in Singapore to include China within its local data allocation.
On paper, that is a small price-plan tweak. In practice, it is aimed at one of the more annoying parts of travel: landing overseas and immediately wondering whether to buy an eSIM, activate a roaming pass, hunt down a local SIM, or simply ration mobile data like it is 2012.

The choice of China isn’t just a snap decision as according to YouGov’s Singapore International Traveller Outlook 2026, China recorded the largest year-on-year jump in travel consideration among Singaporeans, rising by 6.6%, and also saw the biggest improvement in favourability as a destination. YouGov’s broader Singapore travel report also noted that rising travel costs are already affecting how international travellers plan trips, which makes bundled roaming and predictable monthly pricing more attractive than yet another travel add-on.
