Vikas Chanani, Vice President, Multibrand and MVNO Partnerships at StarHub, said that youth are one of Singapore’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving segments, especially in their adoption of AI. According to Giga, AI usage among youths is 35% higher than the rest of its customer base, and that insight helped shape gigaFLEX+.

That makes sense. AI is no longer just something students hear about in class or see in productivity demos. It is already being used for study notes, brainstorming, writing, image generation, coding help, content ideas and everyday tasks. In that context, putting AI access into a mobile plan is not as random as it may first sound. It is giga! trying to make the plan feel like part of a student’s daily toolkit.

How it compares with Giga’s existing youth plan

Giga already had youth-focused options, including a lower-priced plan with 400GB of data in Singapore and Malaysia. gigaFLEX+ sits above gigaFLEX by doubling the headline data allowance and expanding regional coverage to include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.

The comparison is useful because gigaFLEX+ is not just a cheaper version of an existing plan. It is a more loaded youth bundle. The older youth plan is still the simpler, cheaper pick for users who mainly want data and basic roaming. gigaFLEX+ is for those who want more regional data, more international roaming and AI access bundled in from the start.

Why AI is now part of the telco pitch

There was a time when mobile plans competed mainly on data, talktime, SMS and roaming. That still matters, but the market has changed. Heavy data bundles are everywhere, eSIM sign-ups are normal, and young users are already jumping between apps, games, social platforms, AI tools and travel plans.

Pricing and availability

gigaFLEX+ is available now through giga.com.sg and the giga app. It is open only to customers aged 15 to 29, with Singpass used to verify eligibility during sign-up.

The launch offer is limited to the first 9,999 customers, who get the plan at S$13.90/month for the first 12 months before it renews at S$19.90/month.

The youth mobile market is crowded, and cheaper plans still exist. But gigaFLEX+ is not trying to win only by being the cheapest. It is trying to win by being more useful, more playful and more tuned to how young users actually use their phones.
