After years of watching Apple and Samsung dominate the Bluetooth tracker market, Google has finally entered the fray with the Pixel Tag.
Like Apple’s Find My network, the Android Find Hub relies on an opt-in global network of more than one billion Android devices to help locate lost belongings. When a Pixel Tag is out of your reach, nearby Android phones can anonymously detect its Bluetooth signal and securely relay its location back to you. When you’re close to the tracker, the Pixel Tag combines Bluetooth with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology to guide you to its exact location.
Setting up the tracker is equally straightforward. Thanks to Fast Pair, the Pixel Tag can be connected to a compatible Pixel phone in seconds. Once paired, you can also use a Pixel Watch or Pixel Buds to make the tracker ring, making it easier to find misplaced items around the house.
