“If a person’s life had its own genre, what genre would your life be?” This is the question Our Sticky Love, Netflix’s latest glossy K-drama offering, asks as it opens with images of a bloodied woman lying on the ground while a man in a slick suit gazes down at her with forlorn eyes.
Though she may have forgotten her identity, Eun-sae is unmistakably afflicted with what could be described as “main character energy”. Larger than life, brash and unafraid to speak her mind, she is convinced that, whoever she is, she must be someone special.
Confronted with evidence – including his knowledge of the triangular birthmark on her bottom – Eun-sae reluctantly leaves with Tae-ha. Her disappointment deepens as she steps into his humble home and lays eyes on her frumpy wardrobe.
However, her suspicions are aroused as she meets the village residents, few of whom seem to recognise her.
