Insta360 has officially announced the Luna Ultra, its flagship gimbal camera that was developed in partnership with Leica – and goes head-to-head with DJI’s latest Osmo Pocket 4.
The Luna Ultra combines Leica Summicron optics with a dual-lens camera system that includes a dedicated telephoto lens. The camera can record 8K video at 30fps, while also supporting Dolby Vision, 10-bit I-Log capture and up to 14 stops of dynamic range for greater flexibility when editing footage.
For photography, the Luna Ultra can capture 37MP still images and 200MP Scenic Panorama shots. Insta360 has also included a PureVideo mode that uses image processing algorithms to improve low-light image quality.
One of the more unusual features of the Luna Ultra is its detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen. Insta360 claims it is the first camera of its kind to feature a removable display, allowing users to frame and control shots remotely with HD video transmission at distances of up to 20m.
