Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most incredible modern manga series that the fans have witnessed over the course of the last few years. Jujutsu Kaisen is absolutely incredible, and among the many things that it does right is the idea of introducing an overpowered character that carves out the role of the Strongest. Jujutsu Kaisen did incredibly well to establish the strongest in Gojo Satoru right from the get-go. Gojo’s incredible strength saw to it that the fans stayed intrigued by the story at the very beginning, and stuck to it to the very end. This trope is common, but not all series do it well, and while JJK certainly did, it’s now over.
Jujutsu Kaisen might be over, but manga has a new Strongest now, and that’s Desscaras from Ichi the Witch. Fans who tend not to delve too much into the world of manga probably don’t know much about her, but she truly embodies what it means to be the Strongest of her world. Desscaras is an incredibly powerful witch from the world of Ichi the Witch, or Madan no Ichi. In the series, only women get to be witches and Desscaras is the strongest of them all. Not only is she the strongest witch, but she is also the most important one after the protagonist. Her strength is such that she’s famed as the Abyssal Witch, and she truly is the perfect replacement for Gojo Satoru in the world of manga.

There are quite a few similarities between Desscaras and Gojo Satoru, with one of them being the fact that Desscaras mentors the young generation, just as Gojo did in Jujutsu Kaisen. Nurturing characters are quite easy to love, and fans evidently always want to see more of Desscaras and Gojo in that role.

Added to that is the fact that Desscaras is rather nonchalant, just like Gojo, which might actually be the exact opposite of what the strongest should be like. That said, it is what makes them exciting.
Most of all, however, it is their strength that makes them special. Characters that are defined by their strength need showings of strength, and Desscaras most definitely has enough to back her title up. Desscaras has shown powers that allow her to one-shot strong Majiks, cause large-scale destruction, and even defeat the most powerful of Majiks in the series effortlessly, just as Gojo.

Fans Love Desscaras Like Gojo Satoru
Another big similarity between Desscaras and Gojo Satoru is the fact that they’re both beloved characters. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Gojo Satoru is the most loved character in Jujutsu Kaisen, and at the moment, it seems that Desscaras is the most loved character in Ichi the Witch as well. Clearly, the author of Ichi the Witch has established a character that’s just as good as Gojo, with the very same character archetype. Fans can only hope that Desscaras gets even better moving forward, and that she gets a far better ending than Gojo did.

Ichi the Witch is currently running in Weekly Shonen Jump, with a new chapter coming out later this week, on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Jujutsu Kaisen currently has a sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 6 will be released on October 12, 2025.
