Apple iPhone Duo repair costs revealed

While pre-orders for the iPhone Duo are still underway, Apple has revealed the estimated service fees for its first foldable iPhone, both with and without AppleCare+ coverage. If you were hoping to repair a premium foldable relatively cheaply, you might want to think again.

Here are the estimated service fees for the iPhone Duo with and without AppleCare+:

Estimated service cost

S$29

S$69

Back glass damage

S$579

Inner display damage

S$148

S$1,549

Other accidental damage

S$148

S$2,319

Unsurprisingly, the main display will cost a lot to repair. If you don’t have AppleCare+, it will cost a whopping S$1,549 to replace it, which is enough to buy a MacBook Neo with lots of change to spare.

But the most eye-water figure is the S$2,319 fee for “Other accident damage”, which costs almost the same as the 512GB iPhone 18 Pro Max – even if it’s unclear what “Other accident damage” actually entails.

These figures highlight one of the biggest trade-offs of owning a foldable phone. While the larger, folding display offers a more versatile experience, its complex design can make repairs considerably more expensive than those for a conventional smartphone. A damaged inner display, in particular, could result in a hefty bill.

Do note that these are only estimated service fees. Apple will need to inspect the device to determine the extent of the damage before confirming the final cost, so the amount you ultimately pay may differ.

If you’re among the lucky few who managed to pre-order the iPhone Duo, AppleCare+ may be worth considering. The coverage costs S$499 and could help reduce the financial sting of accidental damage, offering greater peace of mind when carrying a device with such an expensive display. You should also consider one of these cases that we’ve shortlisted for the iPhone Duo.
