Hot on the heels of yesterday’s The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, we have a brand new Nintendo Direct — and IGN will be reporting all the news live right here.
Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026 kicks off today, September 9, at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm UK time, and will last roughly 45 minutes. Nintendo has said it will focus on Switch 2 games launching this winter. After the Direct is complete, Nintendo Treehouse: Live | September 2026 will reveal gameplay of some games in the Direct itself in a livestream lasting roughly 110 minutes.
So, what can we expect to see at the Nintendo Direct? The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake got its time to shine in yesterday’s Zelda anniversary Direct, so I suspect Nintendo will focus on other games here. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, due out October 22, seems like a safe bet, as does Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which hits Switch 2 next week. I also expect to see more of FromSoftware’s Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, perhaps with a release date.
Is it finally time for Nintendo to pull back the curtain on the next 3D Mario game? With Ocarina of Time remake the big Christmas 2026 focus and planet of other announced games coming down the line, perhaps we’ll have to wait until early next year for the reveal everyone’s waiting for.
