Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2027 heads to Singapore

Singapore is shaping up to have a big year for trading card game fans in 2027. Shortly after The Pokemon Company confirmed that the Pokemon World Championships will be held here next year, Konami announced that the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Series 2027 is also coming to Singapore.

The announcement was made at the conclusion of this year’s championship in Tokyo, although Konami has not revealed the dates, venue or ticketing arrangements for the Singapore event. Those details are expected to be announced closer to the tournament.

Unlike a conventional trading card game competition, the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship covers both the physical and digital versions of the game. The 2026 tournament featured four categories: the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, Master Duel, and the Speed Duel and Rush Duel formats in Duel Links.

Konami has not confirmed whether the same four categories will return next year, but it would be surprising if the physical card game and its major digital counterparts were left out.

It also means Singapore will host the world championships of two of the most recognisable Japanese trading card game franchises in the same year. The 2027 Pokemon World Championships will take place at Singapore Expo from 13 to 15 August, with Championship Sunday being held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

With Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! now heading here in the same year, 2027 is already looking unusually busy for Singapore’s TCG community. Now then, will the One Piece Card Game bring its world championship to Singapore one day?
