Nintendo Switch 2 Officially Just Got One of the Decade’s Best Games

The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to show why it’s worth the upgrade. The Peabody Award-winning 1000xResist received a Switch 2 edition on Thursday, allowing the narrative adventure “to be played as intended,” according to developer sunset visitor 斜陽過客 in a press release.

1000xResist originally launched in 2024 on Nintendo Switch and Windows PC, but sunset visitor 斜陽過客 had to make several technical compromises to get its award-winning indie hit working on the OG Switch. Now on Switch 2, 1000xResist boasts 4K resolution in TV mode, 1080p in tabletop and handheld modes, and an enhanced frame rate. The Switch 2 edition costs $19.99, and owners of the original Switch edition will be able to download an upgrade pack at no cost.

1000xResist tackles heavy themes over the course of its 10-hour adventure. Through a futuristic, post-apocalyptic lens, it examines diasporic peoples, generational trauma, and the effects of a pandemic (brought on by alien invaders). Iris is the sole survivor of that pandemic, and you play as Watcher, one of her clones. Explore All Mother Iris’ memories and discover that maybe your progenitor isn’t all she’s cracked up to be.
