There are more than three characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but players can only choose three to make a team with. The others can act as backups if the first team falls, but ultimately, players would want to make the best teams in Expedition 33 to defeat any enemies that block their way. Although the game started out simple, the possibilities for different builds and party setups became much larger later on, once the expeditioners can freely explore the Continent and its areas.
Players can experiment with different things, like using Lune as a DPS, using Monoco as a support, or abusing Sciel’s supportive skills to make a team that moves multiple times before the enemy. It’s not a coincidence that Lune is on most teams in this list. Her versatility and utility allow her to fit into any team in Expedition 33.
This best team comp in Expedition 33 article focuses on late-game builds for players to destroy difficult enemies, like those in the Endless Tower.
Updated on December 14, 2025, by Nahda Nabiilah: New equipment from Verso’s Drafts unlocks new playstyles, allowing support characters to take the lead in dealing damage, and DPS units to help from the background. With the new weapons and Luminas available, it’s important to update the list of the best teams in Expedition 33.
Lune + Maelle + Verso
Burning Team
While Verso barely has any skills that synergize with the Burn status, he’s one of the best characters that apply Burn in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Add Maelle and Lune, who both have a core gameplay with Fire and Burn, and players will build a strong Burn team in Expedition 33. This team focuses on single-target damage and can be slow during combat, but it prioritizes safety while enemies are slowly falling to Burn damage.
Verso
Building Verso with
Corpeso grants him the ability to install an enormous amount of Burn status on enemies using his Base Attack. Players can build an arsenal of Luminas that buff Verso’s Base Attack, maximizing the utility of these hits. As for Verso’s skills, it’s better to have some sustain skills since players won’t use them as long as Verso is healthy and kicking.
Maelle
Since Verso is the one who’s installing Burn, Maelle could be the one who takes advantage of it. Other than her Fire skills, Maelle has
Burning Canvas, a Void attack that scales with the amount of Burn status on the target. To further increase the Burn utility, Maelle has
Degagement, which makes enemies weak to Fire. She also has
Medalum, a weapon that doubles the amount of Burn she applies and its damage.
How To Level Up Fast In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Grinding out levels is a part of every RPG, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is no different. Here is how players can level up the quickest.
On the other hand, since this team won’t have a dedicated sustain character, nor someone who applies Shell for the team, it’s good to build Maelle with Guard Up to increase her team’s sustainability.
Lune
Considering Verso is responsible for applying Burn while Maelle will deal high damage because of it, Lune’s job is to break enemies and double the amount of Burn on them. This will skyrocket the amount of Burn on enemies and the damage it deals. With her Earth skills, Lune is more than capable of handling this role while making sure everyone in the team is healed and protected.
Verso + Monoco + Sciel
Verso One-shot Team
In this team comp, instead of Verso dealing damage with his Base Attack and Burning damage, he’ll fully focus on his
Steeled Strike, which charges for two turns. Monoco will set the field ready for Verso by applying his buffs and debuffs. On the other hand, Sciel takes the responsibility of increasing Verso’s damage and makes sure he plays more often. Meanwhile, every time it’s Verso’s turn, he’ll unleash one devastating
Steeled Strike after another.
Verso
When Verso uses Licorum, Frenzy, and Double Third, they greatly increase the damage of his
Steeled Strike skill. The weapons and Luminas absolutely take his strike to the next level and allow Verso to delete enemies during combat. In a perfect rotation, Verso should get his turn with 9 AP on the S Rank. Players can then cast
Steeled Strike and charge it to the next turn, which is immediately after because of the
Cheater Lumina.
In case Verso’s turn started and he didn’t have 9 AP or the S Rank, players can cast
Overload, and that skill will refill Verso’s AP and maximize his Rank. Since
Cheater is already a core Lumina for Verso, players can include a couple of other Luminas that take advantage of Verso getting back his turn. Clea’s Life, for instance, nullifies the price Verso pays when using the
Overload skill.
Monoco
The most important skill for Monoco in this team is the
Boucheclier Fortify, as it will heavily buff their allies and fill their AP. It’s also important to make sure the wheel will always land on the Heavy Mask. That will trigger Esquiaro’s second effect and give all Monoco’s allies a shield. With
Boucheclier Fortify and Esquiaro’s shields always active, Monoco can operate as a shielder in this team on top of everything else he’s doing.
