Samsung’s 2027 foldable phone plans

Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold8’s 4:3-style inner display, which can leave black bars when watching YouTube or Netflix, the new model is said to feature a display ratio better suited for cinematic content. This would appeal to users who spend more time streaming videos on the larger inner screen.

ETNews did not reveal how Samsung plans to differentiate the pair of wide foldable models, but the two devices could target different audiences. One could be for productivity, while the other is optimised for media consumption. The higher-end models, such as the Z Fold Ultra and TriFold successor, could focus on premium materials and specs to justify their price tags.

Whatever the strategy, the move suggests Samsung is no longer treating foldable design as a one-size-fits-all proposition. It would also represent Samsung’s most ambitious foldable lineup and reinforce its strategy of treating foldables as a mainstream product category rather than a niche experiment.
