Atlus mentioned Persona 6 following years of silence, name-dropping the much-anticipated game in a recent survey. The questionnaire also raises the possibility of several other yet-to-be-announced games, though it frames them as less certain than Persona 6.
Persona 6 was first confirmed to be in development in July 2021 via several job ads posted to Japanese website Green. The listings included a quote from Atlus Executive Producer Naoto Hiraoka, who referenced the project and said the company’s hiring spree was partly driven by the ambition to surpass the latest mainline entry. “Exceeding [Persona] 5 will be difficult with the current staff,” Hiraoka was quoted as saying. The remark did not clarify whether sequel was already in pre-production at the time.
