A reliable source in the Genshin Impact community has revealed a rough outline of map expansions coming in the second half of Nod-Krai. It’s no secret that Genshin Impact has gone through a bit of a content drought in 2025 – having only released a new zone in Version 5.5, Version 5.8, and Version 6.0. By contrast, 2024 featured five map expansions across Fontaine and Natlan, while 2023 featured six across Sumeru and Fontaine. Given that the key pillars of Genshin Impact have been its characters and its open world, the lack of new zones has been a notable topic in its community.
Natlan and Nod-Krai have each introduced some of the best map expansions in Genshin Impact, with many players singing praises for Ochkanatlan in particular. While Genshin Impact has maintained the quality of its open world content, the quantity is something it has struggled with in 2025. Neither Version 6.1 nor Version 6.2 will feature a map expansion, and players will need to wait until January 14, 2026, to take their exploration of Nod-Krai further. However, according to a recent leak, this may change in the coming year.
Genshin Impact Leak Brings Bad News for Version 6.2
Genshin Impact looks to be continuing an unpopular trend in Nod-Krai that once started with Natlan, urging players to hold onto their Primogems.
Genshin Impact May Be Adding a Map Expansion in Version 6.4 and Version 6.5
The information comes from Full Stop Chan, one of the most reliable voices in the Genshin Impact community, and it claims that Version 6.4 will take players to Dornman Port, with Version 6.5 introducing Hyperborea as a separate region on the map (akin to Enkanomiya). Provided this is true, it would mean that 2026 would start off with three map expansions in a row – as Version 6.3 is set to debut the city of Piramida and Lake Amsvartnir. Curiously, the leak also mentions a future zone not yet tied to a specific update: the Space of Asmoday. Given that Asmoday is the missing member of the Four Shades in Genshin Impact, it’s highly likely that this zone will only come into play at the very end of Nod-Krai.
One thing to keep in mind is the upcoming cameo of Liben in Genshin Impact. Among other things, Liben has always teased upcoming content during his annual visits, and his datamined dialogue in Version 6.2 speaks mainly of Dornman Port. The last time Mondstadt received a map expansion in Genshin Impact was during the debut of Dragonspine in Version 1.2. Dornman Port could be a brilliant opportunity for the developers to do a modern take on the game’s oldest region, especially since Varka in Genshin Impact is expected to make his gameplay debut at the same time.
