Samsung shows off intelligent eyewear at Galaxy Unpacked

Samsung has finally shown off its new intelligent eyewear products at Galaxy Unpacked in London, but if you’re hoping to get it soon, you might be sorely disappointed. 

Even though we finally got to see and touch them in-person, Samsung didn’t share any specs or whether we could expect to see them come to the Singapore market. There’s only a vague mention of the glasses launching in select markets this fall, which means we might not see these new products until later.

As a quick refresher, Samsung first teased collaborations with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster at Google I/O 2026, focused on lightweight, everyday wearable devices that consumers could use to take advantage of Gemini AI features such as contextual assistance, live translation, navigation overlays, and more.

These smart glasses are more similar to the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses, which feature a camera but no display. 

As a first offering, it’s not too shabby from Samsung, even if we don’t have any details on the specs. It’s clear that the Korean tech giant is looking at smart glasses wearables as a fashion accessory first and foremost, and it’s evidenced by the interview that HardwareZone had the pleasure of having with James Choi, Corporate EVP, Head of Samsung’s XR R&D team. 

Choi mentioned that this new product category for Samsung was not meant to replace the phone, but rather, to help people use their phones less while getting value out of the experience. 

The first criterion is for people to want to wear the glasses, and whether they can wear them for the whole day. Aside from being a fashion statement, it should also be a piece of engineering that is comfortable and fitting to the face. 

Choi also told us that Samsung has filed a whopping 200 patents for this new smart wearable category, but only a portion of that is in the two new eye wear products announced. About 100 are related to heads up displays (HUDs), which gives us hope that we might be seeing a pair of smart glasses with displays coming soon as well. 

Despite the fact that we had no information available on the hardware, during our short time with the smart glasses on display (from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker), we noticed that the glasses all had a single camera, open ear stereo speakers, and microphones for voice and environmental context.

We were also informed that there was a touchpad on the glasses for controls, and that a Galaxy Watch could also be used to control the glasses or paired Galaxy Buds audio devices. 

The smart glasses use a silicon carbon battery inside, with up to 9 hours of active use on a single charge, which is longer than Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses. According to Choi, 50 engineers from Samsung, Qualcomm and Google worked together to optimise the battery chemical mix for the eyewear. 

The Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor and a split computing process also help the glasses last longer, since a paired phone can be used for heavy computing tasks. The glasses also borrows Knox Vault from a paired Samsung phone to ensure that videos and photos captured with the glasses are secure. 

Speaking of security, the glasses will also have a bystander and inner LED that shows when the glasses are recording video or audio. If the LED is blocked or if the glasses are not being worn, the camera is disabled as well. 

Unfortunately, there’s no news yet on whether the Gentle Monster and Warby Parker smart glasses will come to Singapore. Once we have more information available, we will update this article.
