Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold may be discontinued

The Galaxy Z TriFold officially launched in Singapore on 19 December 2025, and initial demand seemed strong. The first batch sold out during the registration window from 3 to 10 December, prompting Samsung to open a second waitlist on 12 December to accommodate additional interest. However, the early momentum may not have translated into sustained sales. Reports suggest that the decision to halt sales is driven by “high production costs” compounded by rising memory prices and component shortages. As one of the most complex foldable designs to date, the tri-fold form factor is certainly more expensive to manufacture than conventional foldables.

The move also comes amid broader industry headwinds. Surging component costs and ongoing supply constraints are expected to push prices across consumer devices, with some estimates indicating that laptop prices could rise by 40% this year. Against this backdrop, the viability of ultra-premium foldables may prove difficult for companies to justify.
