It’s round two for Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked for 2026, bringing in new foldables to their lineup. This year, the highlight might be the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and its unique wide foldable (passport-like) form factor, but the new Galaxy Z Flip8 comes with nice new upgrades that shouldn’t be forgotten about.
Here’s what you need to know about the next iteration of Samsung’s stylish flip phone.
Slimmer than ever before
It’s the slimmest and lightest Flip phone to date.

After so many years, you’d think Samsung would find it difficult to continue making its Flip phones thinner and lighter, but the Korean giant keeps pushing boundaries.
This year, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is both lighter at 180g (compared to 188g from the Galaxy Z Flip7 and 187g from the Galaxy Z Flip6) and thinner at 13.1mm folded (compared to 13.7mm and 14.9mm for the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Flip6, respectively). It may not sound like a lot, but it all adds up if you’re upgrading from an old model:-

The eagle-eyed among you might also notice a slight difference in the edges of the phones this year, which is thanks to the new bevelled design that is supposed to make it easier to open the foldable devices. We’ve been able to try this out beforehand, and we can confirm the bevelled edges not only look good, but live up to Samsung’s promises.
It doesn’t get the new Flex Titanium for reduced creases though.

Unfortunately, the Galaxy Z Flip8 will not be getting the same Flex Titanium that the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra devices have. Instead, the phone will still be using the Armor Aluminium frame and Armor FlexHinge.
