Google is turning its search box into a place where things get done rather than merely looked up. In a blog post, the company announced that users can connect and interact with third-party apps directly inside AI Mode in Search, starting with Canva, Instacart and YouTube. This feature begins rolling out in the United States this week.
Users can, in Google’s words, build lists, design projects or curate playlists without leaving their search results. Connect Instacart, and AI Mode can add the ingredients for a recipe straight to a cart. Connect Canva, and a design project can pull up template options mid-conversation. Ask AI Mode to assemble a playlist, and it can save that playlist to YouTube Music instantly.Â
Google added that it is working with a range of partners and plans to add more connected apps soon.Â
