While some stars were out celebrating post-Star Awards 2026, Mediacorp actor Cai Cheng Jun had to be at the airport just hours after he reached home at midnight.

The reason for the rush?

The 26-year-old had to be back in Kaohsiung, Taiwan to begin filming A Prophecy That I’m Falling for You, a 10-episode drama directed by Peter Ho.

It was announced earlier this month that Cheng Jun, who came in fourth during Star Search 2024, had landed a supporting role in the drama. The cast includes Taiwanese actors Edward Chen and Tsao Yuning, Thai actress Aokbab Chutimon, as well as Mediacorp actor-host Guo Liang.

Cheng Jun plays A Li, a Singaporean exchange student studying in Taiwan, and the best friend of Edward’s character.

And he’s feeling excited about his first overseas stint.

“I’m feeling so pumped up. Going overseas to shoot is like a whole different experience, and it is something I’ve always wanted to do ever since I joined the industry,” he says, adding that filming in Taiwan wasn’t part of his bucket list.
