World’s first 10x optical zoom on a 50MP sensor
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra has just been announced globally, and this flagship device is the Chinese brand’s first Ultra model to be released outside China. With its impressive array of cameras, OPPO is billing the phone as “your next camera”.

The main camera provides nice enough shots, but the highlight has to be the 10x optical zoom on a 50MP sensor – a first. The new Quintuple Prism Reflection Periscope Structure uses five reflections to extend the optical path, thus allowing for the module to be more compact. Paired with a Sensor Shift optical stabilisation system, the 10x optical zoom is fantastic, delivering good detail while offering enough reach to shoot subjects from afar.
Shoot even further with the teleconverter kit
But if you’re looking for even more reach, the Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit, which bundles a teleconverter and case, transforms the phone into an even more impressive device. The teleconverter attaches to the 3x telephoto camera to offer 13x optical zoom and 30x optical-quality zoom, thanks to having enough megapixels on a reasonably sized sensor that allows cropping in and still delivers impressive quality.
