When Nintendo announced the opening of their Singapore office, we reported that a localised Nintendo eShop might be on the horizon. And it looks like we are spot on.
In a press announcement released on its website earlier today, Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online services are scheduled to begin in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on 18 November.
Having a localised eShop is a really long time coming for Nintendo gamers in Singapore and the rest of Southeast Asia. If you ever wanted to buy a digital game for instance, you’ll have to switch your account’s region to, say, the US or Hong Kong eShop. With Nintendo eShop in Singapore, gamers can purchase and download games, download downloadable contents, and purchase a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Nintendo has also said “specific service contents will be announced at a later date. Please wait for our updates.”
Additionally, Nintendo is also working to launch Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online in the Philippines.
