Samsung Galaxy Buds4 series: improved fit & AI

Like last year, Samsung is releasing new earbuds to complement its new phones. What you are looking at is the new Galaxy Buds4 series. Once again, we have two models: the in-ear type Galaxy Buds4 Pro and the open-type Galaxy Buds4.

Let’s start with the Galaxy Buds4 Pro, because they are Samsung’s newest flagship earbuds. The first thing you’ll notice is that the design of the stem has changed. Gone are the Blade Lights, and in their place is a flat metal piece that Samsung says makes them easier to handle and control.

The earbuds are shaped differently to provide more wearing comfort. Samsung says this is the result of analysing data from hundreds of millions of “global ear data points”. The Buds4 Pro comes in Black and White, while Pink Gold is an online exclusive. It also has an IP57 water resistance rating.

There are changes internally, too. The Buds4 Pro still has a two-driver design featuring a dynamic driver and a planar tweeter, but the dynamic driver is now 20% larger. Samsung says this improves bass response and clarity. The noise-cancelling algorithm has been improved, too. Battery life is mostly the same. Samsung claims up to 6 hours on a single charge with ANC on, and up to 26 hours with the charging case.

It won’t be a Galaxy earbud if it didn’t support Galaxy AI, and owners can use hands-free and voice controls to interact with AI agents, including Bixby, Google Gemini, and Perplexity. And for the first time, the Buds4 Pro will support head gestures, allowing users to nod or shake their heads in response to yes/no questions from Bixby, answer or dismiss calls, and more.

Elsewhere, the Buds4 Pro retains the key features of its predecessor. It supports up to 24-bit/96kHz hi-res audio with compatible devices, and it features Adaptive ANC and Adaptive EQ. The former adjusts the level of noise cancellation depending on your environment, while the latter dynamically adjusts the earbuds’ frequency response to ensure it keeps as close as possible to its target tuning.

In terms of connectivity, these earbuds support Bluetooth 6.1 and Auracast. Supported codecs include AAC, SBC, LC3, and Samsung’s proprietary codecs SSC HiFi and SSC UHQ.

As for the more affordable Buds4, it differs in a few areas. Most notably, it has an open-ear design, so it’s suitable for readers who prefer not to stick things into their ears. It also uses a single dynamic driver, instead of the most sophisticated two-way driver setup of the Buds4 Pro. The battery life is also shorter, up to 5 hours with ANC on a single charge, and up to 24 hours total with the charging case. Its IP54 water resistance rating is also slightly lower.

However, it is similar in some ways. Despite the open design, it still features active noise cancellation. It also supports hi-res audio up to 24-bit/96kHz. Like the Buds Pro4, the Buds4 also supports Bluetooth 6.1 and Auracast. It also supports the same codecs, including SSC HiFi, SSC UHQ, AAC, SBC, and LC3.

Availability and pricing

The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 series will be available to pre-order now and will be available in stores on 11 March 2026. The Galaxy Buds4 is S$249, while the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is S$349.
