Indonesia has been ranked 10th on TasteAtlas’s list of the world’s 100 best cuisines this year, the highest among Southeast Asian countries.

Indonesia has been ranked 10th on TasteAtlas’s list of the world’s 100 best cuisines this year, the highest among Southeast Asian countries.
Vietnamese cuisine was the second best in Southeast Asia, followed by Thai cuisine.
Singapore and Laos stood near bottom of the ranking, which was based on 590,228 valid ratings for 18,912 foods in TasteAtlas’s database.
The international food magazine recommends diners to try some iconic dishes in Indonesia such as Nasi Padang, an Indonesian combination of rice (nasi) and an assortment of traditional Pandang dishes, Bawang goreng (fried shallot), Sate kambing, a type of satay prepared with goat or mutton as the main ingredien, Siomay (steamed fish dumpling with vegetables served in peanut sauce) and Soto Betawi (beef soup).
Some must-try restaurants include Dapur Bali Mula, Warung Mak Beng, Warung Mek Juwel Nasi Campur Ayam, Raf Babi Krispi and 1945 Restaurant, the magazine suggests.
Founded in 2015, TasteAtlas links 9,000 local restaurants and showcases tens of thousands of dishes based on reviews and research by culinary experts, chefs, and users.
