Black Ops 7 Just Removed One of Its Best Maps

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 developer Treyarch Studios has mysteriously removed Blackheart, a fan-favorite Multiplayer map, from the game’s rotation less than two hours after the beginning of Season 1. Blackheart is one of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7‘s fifteen original Multiplayer launch maps, and it quickly became a favorite among the community for its strong, three-lane structure and the fact that it has an excellent balance, allowing Assault Rifles, SMGs, LMGs, Shotguns, and even Sniper Rifles to thrive in every single match.

Today was a big day for Call of Duty fans, as December 4 marked the beginning of Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 1. Not only did the major content update bring a plethora of new maps, weapons, modes, Operator bundles, and more to the game, but it also fully integrated the free-to-play Battle Royale title with Black Ops 7. Players will now be able to level up their weapons and character in both games, which means anybody who has been grinding the latest entry in the series since its launch on November 14 will now be able to take their leveled-up weapons into Warzone and jump straight into the new Resurgence map, Haven’s Hollow.

‘Xbox Dropped the Ball’ Analyst Says Call of Duty is Underperforming in the Worst Year Possible

Video game industry analysts say the Call of Duty franchise is underperforming in the worst year possible, and there could be multiple reasons for it.

Treyarch Removes Blackheart Right As Black Ops 7 Season 1 Begins

Shortly after Season 1 began, Treyarch Studios mysteriously removed Blackheart from the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 map rotation. The Call of Duty Updates Twitter account then shed some light on the situation, confirming that the map has been temporarily removed from both Public and Private map pools while the studio investigates an issue. Unfortunately, there’s no word on when it will be added back to the game, as the statement only says that it will return in an upcoming update. Given that Season 1 only launched today, December 4, it could be a few more days at minimum before another update is ready to be deployed by Treyarch.

It’s currently unclear what the issue in question was, but fans don’t seem to be happy with the map’s temporary removal. In response to the above post, one user said Blackheart is their “favorite map” and questioned what the issue is, as the map has been “fine” since it launched alongside the game on November 14. Another user exclaimed, “BRUH HUH?!? One of the best maps?!?” clearly showing their disappointment at its removal.

The good news is that Season 1 is stacked full of content, meaning players have a plethora of new maps to check out while Treyarch fixes whatever the issue with Blackheart could be. Three new maps and one remastered classic joined the shooter on December 4 with Season 1, and there are still even more to come with the mid-season update next month. For now, however, players can jump into Fate, Utopia, Odysseus, or Standoff, the latter of which is a remaster of the classic map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
