A new leak has emerged that claims to show footage from the production set of The Legend of Zelda movie. While many Nintendo fans are looking forward to The Super Mario Galaxy movie next year, this new leak could give a teaser of what the upcoming film for the Zelda franchise could look like.
Following the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Nintendo announced it would be partnering with Sony to produce a film based on The Legend of Zelda. While the movie was announced back in November 2023, it recently entered production in New Zealand. Fans know several details about the project, including that it will star Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda. Additionally, Wes Ball was revealed as the director, who has talked about his passion for the project in the past.
Despite the secretive nature of the project, footage of the actors and crew has potentially been leaked. Several new clips on Instagram claim to show the movie in full production in a forest location. In one of the leaked clips, an actress who appears to be Bo Bragason can be seen in clothing similar to what Princess Zelda would wear in the more recent 3D games. The footage shows the actress walking toward several horses and talking to a new character. While unconfirmed, some fans believe this character could be Impa. Furthermore, fans think the actress is Dichen Lachman, who has previously played in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Apple TV+’s Severance. The community also pointed out that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was directed by Wes Ball.
The other clip in question includes a glimpse of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. The footage shows the actor wearing a green tunic similar to what the iconic Nintendo character has worn in the franchise’s games, and he is seen putting on some sort of cloak.
It is worth noting that none of this leaked footage has been confirmed by Nintendo, so it could end up being fake. However, The Legend of Zelda film recently started filming in November, making this leak seem more credible. Ultimately, fans will likely have to wait until Nintendo makes an official announcement to learn more concrete details about the movie, which is scheduled to release on May 7, 2027.

As part of a new Nintendo Direct, the company revealed the voices for Rosalina and Bowser Jr. It also shared the first official trailer, which showed some of the new locations the characters would be visiting. With multiple films in the pipeline, Nintendo fans have a lot to look forward to in the future.
