Battlefield 6 fans could have at least nine new match types to look forward to, as dataminers have found several unused modes in the game’s code. EA has stated before that it wants the newest Battlefield to become its biggest and best to date, which likely means a steady drip of content over its life cycle. Now Battlefield 6 players may have a closer look at some of the next steps in that process.
A month after its release, EA’s latest FPS has already faced some significant ups and downs. While Battlefield 6 has lost its concurrent player count crown, users came to it in droves upon launch, and there’s been a rapid back-and-forth of player complaints and patches to address them since then. All in all, though, things are still looking good for the game, and Battlefield Studios is only getting started with the new content it aims to introduce over the coming months.
Battlefield 6 Datamine Reveals Nine Upcoming Game Modes
Insider Gaming reports that it has found the file names for nine new game modes in Battlefield 6‘s files. Back before Season One began, six Battlefield 6 multiplayer modes were discovered that were not available at the time. Two of those, Sabotage and Strikepoint, had already been confirmed for the game’s first season, leaving four that EA had not announced then and still hasn’t confirmed now. In this latest leak, the dataminers have unearthed an additional five modes: Convoy, Fantastic Four, Gunmaster, Touchdown, and Tug of War. Together with the remaining four from the last leak (Raid, Payload, Squad Shootout, and Tank Hunt), this brings the grand total of unused and unannounced match types up to nine.
The five newest game modes are all listed as “prototypes” within Battlefield 6‘s files. That label seems to suggest these are still in their early stages of development, so they may not come to the game for quite some time. Devs may not feel particularly rushed to introduce them, either, as Battlefield 6 already has 11 multiplayer modes, counting Sabotage and Ice Lock, which, at the time of writing, are not yet available but are on tap for later in the season.
It’s unclear what each of the new modes will entail, but their names could hold some clues. Gunmaster could be something similar to Call of Duty‘s Gun Game and Valorant‘s Escalation, where players must cycle through multiple weapons after each kill, needing to use all of them to win. Tug of War seems to imply a push-and-pull type of mode, where teams compete to gain a certain level of control or complete objectives first. As for when the new content will debut, there’s no indication in the code, but it could likely be a while. The last phase in Battlefield 6′s Season One roadmap begins in December, so game modes not outlined in this season may not arrive until 2026.
