Razer adds to its growing hall effect lineup with the Reclusa Mini 65% gaming keyboard

Note: This article has been updated with remarks from Razer regarding switch compatibility.

It’s not often that Razer releases a keyboard releases a keyboard outside of its prolific and BlackWidow and Huntsman lineup, but this is an exception. The company has released the Reclusa Mini 65%, a (you guessed it) 65% keyboard that’s part of Razer’s new Reclusa lineup.

The Reclusa Mini 65% is the second in the Reclusa series, joining the more affordable Reclusa X Mini 65%. The main difference between the two boards is the switch choice that Razer has gone for – while the Reclusa X uses mechanical switches, the Reclusa Mini 65% uses magnetic hall effect switches.

Specifically, it’s the same hall effect switches as the recently released Huntsman V3 HE, featuring adjustable actuation between 0.1 to 4.0mm and a 40g actuation force. Being an analog switch, it also features rapid trigger, Razer Snap Tap, Razer Snap Flex and Dual-Keypress Priority.

The Reclusa Mini 65% features hall effect switches, becoming the second Razer board to do so since the Huntsman V3 HE.

Razer also stated that these hall effect switches are hot-swappable. That’s usually the case with hall effect boards, as the hall sensor in a PCB doesn’t inherently require a soldered connection with a magnetic switch to work. But it’s not something to take for granted with every hall effect keyboard, as the Razer explicitly discourages users from swapping the switches on its Huntsman V3 HE boards.

Razer specifically states that the PCB on the Reclusa Mini 65% can work with third-party hall effect switches (or non-Razer HE switches, in other words). But it’s worth noting that switch compatibility might not be universal, depending on factors such as the polarity of the switch’s magnets, and the position of those magnets.

When we asked Razer about switch compatibility, we were told that “most third-party magnetic switches are compatible”, and that Razer Synapse’s Calibration on Demand function will calibrate the switch to work with the PCB. Razer will share a list of compatible hall effect siwtches in the near future.

Apart from the switches, the Reclusa Mini also includes a series of sound dampening materials between the switches and the case. This includes IXPE switch foam, a silicone plate dampener, an IXPE foam sheet and silicone case foam.

The Reclusa Mini 65% also uses a PPS (polypropylene sulfide) plate. Similar to polycarbonate and POM, it’s a plastic plate that should offer some flex and bounciness when typing.

Finally, the Reclusa Mini 65% supports connectivity via Bluetooth, 2.4GHz (including Razer HyperSpeed Wireless) and USB-C, the last of which enables an 8,000Hz polling rate. The keycaps are doubleshot ABS, and the board also supports Razer Chroma RGB.

Availability and Pricing

Razer’s Reclusa Mini 65% keyboard is available now at S$189. You can purchase it on Razer’s website, as well as RazerStores and select retailers.
