Director Fede Álvarez has confirmed Don’t Breathe 3 is in the works, with some of the cast from previous films expected to reprise their roles.
The filmmaker behind some of the grislier horror movies of the last 15 years announced his intentions to finish his thriller trilogy with a proper third film at Beyond Fest 2026, as reported by Dread Central. Whether or not Álvarez will return as director is unclear, but it is said that he has at least returned to handle its script.
How the third Don’t Breathe movie will materialize and what story it will tell remains unclear. However, it sounds like it will at least continue where the previous two films left off, with both Stephen Lang (Avatar) and Jane Levy (Evil Dead) expected to reprise their roles as The Blind Man a.k.a. Norman Nordstrom and Rocky, respectively.
Álvarez and Levy previously worked together on his 2013 Evil Dead reboot before re-teaming for the original Don’t Breathe in 2016. The horror-thriller, which was also produced by scary movie visionary Sam Raimi, follows three thieves who break into a house before finding themselves fighting for their lives in a “lethal game of cat and mouse.”
Don’t Breathe 2 continued the story with Lang back as The Blind Man in 2021. The sequel saw Álvarez hand directing duties to frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues, with Raimi also returning as producer. In the five years since its premiere, there have been few updates about how the crew might round out the trilogy with a Don’t Breathe 3 despite Lang teasing a new movie through the years.
