The controller uses a pearlescent Chroma Pearl finish, which PlayStation says is one of Lisa’s personal favourites. Her signature is also printed on the rear. It is unmistakably a piece of Lisa merchandise.

According to her quote on the PlayStation Blog, Lisa said gaming is something she does when she has time to relax, and that the collaboration gave her another way to express herself beyond music and fashion. The controller’s arrival also ties in with her new EP, Press Play, which will be released on 23 October.

Still, I thought Lisa was an interesting choice for a dedicated PlayStation controller. She is not especially known for being a gamer, certainly not in the way fellow Blackpink member Jisoo is. Jisoo has spoken more openly about gaming over the years and has previously been involved with titles including MapleStory and KartRider Rush+. If PlayStation wanted a Blackpink member with the more immediately recognisable gaming connection, she might have seemed the more obvious pick.

But this collaboration is probably more about Lisa’s reach across music, fashion and pop culture. In that sense, she’s arguably the most popular member of Blackpink globally.

In Southeast Asia, LISA Limited Edition DualSense controller will be available at participating retailers beginning on October 30 for a recommended retail price of S$115 / MYR 419 / IDR 1,549,000 / THB 2,890 / PHP 5,411 / VND 2,399,000. Pre-orders will begin on October 2, while stocks last.
