There isn’t that much of a difference between the two events. A simple way to differentiate them is thinking of Prime Day as Amazon’s primary sale in July, while Prime Big Deal Days serves as an October follow-up. In fact, some colloquially refer to Amazon’s October event as ‘October Prime Day’.
