Android rolls out anti-call spoofing feature, Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy to get them first


The default Phone app for Android handsets is getting a powerful, anti-scam upgrade. 

Fake Call Detection by default

Per its announcement, Google is rolling out fake call detection for its default Phone app — globally — to all Android-powered mobile phones running Android 12 or newer. That includes Singapore.

The feature would be enabled by default, and it works behind the scenes; the user does not need to do anything special to enjoy it.

How does it work?

As Google explains, Fake Call Detection in the Phone app relies on a private handshake and encrypted Rich Communication Services (RCS) technology.

In short, when a caller calls your phone, it will initiate a handshake with the person bearing the same name in your contact list (for example, a contact saved as “Mom”).
