Apple has introduced its first 2nm processor, keeping pace with other Android brands that are also introducing 2nm chips. The new A20 Pro processor is built on the new 2nm process, with a 6-core CPU that consists of two desktop-class super cores that are up to 20% faster, along with four efficiency cores and an integrated neural accelerator.
The GPU also gets a large upgrade, with seven cores that offer up to 40% faster graphics performance compared to the A19 Pro chip.
There are also two dedicated neural engines for AI compute workloads, with a 50% increase in memory bandwidth. In order to fit everything in, the physical package had to be redesigned, with the memory placed off to the side next to the silicon die.
