The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 is coming to Singapore in Q4 2026

Instead of chasing higher wireless speeds, Wi-Fi 8 is focused on improving reliability and latency. This is a sensible approach given how fast Wi-Fi 7 speeds already are. As a result, peak theoretical speeds are unchanged – 46Gbpsremains the max throughput – and the maximum channel width remains 320MHz. 

The ROG Rapture GT-BN98

At its heart, this is a quad-band Wi-Fi 8 router. The design mirrors the ROG GT-BE98, so it has 8 external antennae, a see-through section, and it’s very large. This isn’t a router that will slip into homes easily – you will need to make space for it. 

It broadcasts a single 2.4GHz network, two 5GHZ networks, and a single 6GHz network. All networks broadcast up to four streams, and their maximum throughputs are as follows:

• 2.4GHz – up to 1,376MBps 
• 5GHz-1 – up to 5,764MBps (@ 160MHz)
• 5GHz-2 – up to 5,764MBps (@ 160MHz)
• 6GHz – up to 11,529Gbps (@ 320MHz)

In terms of wired connectivity, it has a 10G WAN/LAN port, a dedicated 10G LAN gaming port, four 2.5G LAN ports (one of which can double as a 2.5G WAN port), and a single Gigabit Ethernet port. It also has two USB-A ports – one supports USB 3.2 Gen 1, while the other supports USB 2.0.

As is the case with any cutting-edge Wi-Fi router, it’s important to note that all the above-mentioned Wi-Fi 8 improvements can only be fully realised with compatible Wi-Fi 8 devices. And as of now, there aren’t any in the market. Furthermore, seeing that Wi-Fi 8 hasn’t been fully ratified and the fact that Wi-Fi 7 is only just about gaining mainstream adoption, our guess is that it will be a while before we start seeing Wi-Fi 8 client devices coming to the market.

Availability and pricing

We’ve been told by ASUS that the ROG Rapture GT-GN98 will be available in Singapore sometime in Q4 later this year. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s safe to say that it won’t be cheap. For reference, the ROG Rapture GT-BE98 had a launch price of S$1,099.
