
It’s been three years since Final Fantasy fans have been able to play as Clive Rosfield, the main protagonist of 2023’s Final Fantasy XVI. Final Fantasy Resonance, a forthcoming turn-based role-playing game developed by Square Enix, aims to change that.
Final Fantasy XVI received mixed reception, largely because it shifted to an action-oriented combat system in which players controlled Clive’s melee attacks, dodges, and special Eikon abilities in real time. Resonance returns to the strategic, turn-based combat style that earlier franchise titles were known for and features familiar faces such as the Dominant of Ifrit.
