Fable Main Quest Will Take About 20 Hours to Beat

Fable‘s main quest will take around 20 hours to beat, Playground Games has confirmed.

Associate game directors Will Kennedy and Craig Littler shared the estimated length for the 2027 fantasy RPG during a group Q&A attended by Polygon at gamescom 2026. While the Xbox and Playground say Fable will have plenty of content to keep players busy for as long as they want, players won’t be sinking hundreds of hours into the main story just to reach the credits.

“We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay, we have around 15-20 of side and open-world exploration content gameplay,” Kennedy said.

Compared to the rest of the series, completionists will typically spend about 30 hours seeing all there is to see in the first game and around 50 to do the same in the second and third games. The next Fable appears to be fall in line with that trend, but we won’t truly see all it has to offer until Playground and Xbox see it launch next year.

Fable is currently set with a February 23, 2027, release date for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. IGN got to see one of its full quests in action at gamescom 2026 and came away even more excited to see what the full game has to offer. After first being announced six years ago in July 2020, director Ralph Fulton tells us he’s happy to see it launch alongside a bunch of other games and relieved that Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t one of them.
