Hitachi Rail wins Singapore signalling deal

Hitachi Rail has been awarded the signalling contract for the construction of NS3A and NS6 stations on Singapore’s North-South Line.

The contract covers signalling works needed to integrate both stations into the operational railway. Hitachi Rail’s Singapore-based team will handle system integration, testing and commissioning, with the works carried out while the existing line remains in service.

The project will use Hitachi Rail’s SELTRAC Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) technology, which is already deployed on metro networks in Singapore and other major cities.

Two additions to the North-South Line

NS3A will be built as an infill station on the existing North-South Line, while NS6 is planned as a future interchange with the Downtown Line 2 extension.

The signalling systems for both stations will be integrated into the existing network. Hitachi Rail said the delivery plan is designed to minimise disruption to current passenger operations.

“The addition of NS3A and NS6 will play an important role in supporting Singapore’s growing transportation needs,” said Alfredo Drago, Head of APAC Region SRS at Hitachi Rail.

Once completed, NS6 is also expected to support future network expansion and provide additional operational flexibility.
