Xiaomi’s affordable 8kg Mijia Front Load Washer

We covered Xiaomi’s 10.5kg Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer earlier last year, and its smaller sibling, the 9kg variant, back in June. Now, the company is expanding its lineup with an even smaller Mijia Front Load Washer 8kg.

A running thread throughout Xiaomi’s washing machine product line is how the prices undercut the competition, and this new 8kg washer (enough for about 2 people) is no different, being priced at S$349. For that price, you get a 525mm drum (same as the 9kg Mijia), as well as a slim 421mm depth.

Xiaomi has also placed a focus on the water efficiency of the 8kg Mijia Front Load Washer, with a 4-tick WELS rating and a load-sensing system that optimises water volume and cycle time depending on the amount of laundry.

Other features include a 15-minute Quick Wash for smaller loads (1-2kg), and a dedicated steam-cleaning button. It does, however, lack the dryer functionality of its bigger brothers. 

Finally, you can operate the 8kg Mijia via a touch panel on the front of the washer, via Google or Alexa voice control, or through the Xiaomi Home app. In total, through the touch panel and Xiaomi Home, there are a total of 27 wash programmes to choose from, including for specific materials, alongside wash duration and temperature customisation, among others.

The Mijia Front Load Washer 8kg is available now for S$349, and it’s an online exclusive, only available on Xiaomi’s Shopee and Lazada pages, and on the company’s website as well.
