How to defeat HMS Fearless & Royal Sovereign in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

As if fighting one legendary ship in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced isn’t hard enough, this time, you get two. Right from the start of the battle, the HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign will try to sandwich the Jackdaw, so be ready to turn sideways and line up alongside one of them, while the other trails behind. Use this opportunity to unleash your broadside cannons. When the legendary ship eventually turns away, use your front cannons on its back, and then fire some mortars in its path — don’t try to stay alongside, as the Jackdaw isn’t fast enough.

The two ships will likely line up for another attempt to surround the Jackdaw. Do the exact same thing; face them, turn sideways when they get close, and sail alongside one ship, avoiding the other. If the ship doesn’t turn away, allowing you to aim your ram toward its side, be ready to use the ram dash ability.

Once you’ve depleted either ship’s HP to two-thirds, they’ll both start dropping fire barrels, so try to hit them with your swivel gun before sailing into them. If you stick to the routine as described above, they shouldn’t land directly in your path that often.

Although it seems like a logical move, do not defeat one ship before the other — if one sinks, the other lights on fire and starts chasing you like a maniac, firing its front cannons and trying to ram you at every opportunity. Instead, try to deplete their HP at the same pace, leaving them with just a sliver of HP at the end of the battle, when you should take them out in two quick, successive attacks.

For this reason, the key to winning this fight is knowing which ship is which: The one with the white sails is the Royal Sovereign, and the one with the black sails is the HMS Fearless. So, if you notice that the Royal Sovereign has more HP left, be sure to target the white sails upon their next charge.

How to defeat HMS Prince in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

• How to unlock: Clear the Navassa naval fort (southeast region)
• Rewards: 12,000 reales, HMS Prince ship model, and the HMS Prince’s appearance for the Jackdaw (sails, figurehead, hull, and wheel)

The HMS Prince’s favorite weapon is mortars, but it’ll also use its cannons and fire barrels. Try to circle the ship at medium range; close enough to hit the legendary ship, but distant enough to avoid sailing into the barrels. Hit the fire barrels with your swivel guns to detonate them (if you’re quick enough, you might even damage the HMS Prince). To avoid any other type of attack, as usual, use Lucy’s perfect brace ability whenever you’re about to get hit.

At the start of the battle, as well as when you’ve depleted one-third and two-thirds of the HMS Prince’s HP, the ship sails away and starts bombarding you with even more mortars than usual. Don’t forget that you can predict a mortar’s area of impact by looking at the sea; the orange dots are where the mortars will land. To help you avoid so many mortars, slow down the Jackdaw to make quicker and sharper turns. You’ll know a mortar is about to land when the orange dot grows brighter (see picture below, left side) and starts to flicker. In case you’re wondering if the ram dash ability might help you outrun mortars; best not to risk it, as you can’t brace during the dash, and you might actually sail into an area of impact.

Feel free to use any type of attack throughout this battle, though after one of the HMS Prince’s mortar volleys, using your own mortars is especially useful, as the legendary ship usually sails back toward you in a fairly straight line. Aim the mortars ahead of the ship, as they’ll require travel time (see picture above, right side). While circling the HMS Prince during the “normal” stages of the battle, try to suddenly slow down the Jackdaw, steer sharply toward the HMS Prince to close the distance, and fire your heavy and heated shots into its side, followed by swivel gun shots.

As you can’t look out for mortars and fire barrels while aiming your own weapons, it’s important to approach this battle patiently; focus on surviving the HMS Prince’s attacks, then use the brief window afterward to launch your own, but don’t aim down sight for more than a second or two.

How to defeat La Dama Negra in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

• Coordinates: (240, 72)
• How to unlock: Clear the Serranilla naval fort (southwest region)
• Rewards: 12,000 reales, La Dama Negra ship model, and La Dama Negra’s appearance for the Jackdaw (sails, figurehead, hull, and wheel)

This legendary ship is equipped with extra hull armor, but it suffers from two major weaknesses; it’s slow compared to the other legendary ships, and it doesn’t have strong armor at the back. To exploit this weakness, try to sail behind La Dama Negra and fire into the rear. You can also sail past the rear and use your side cannons rather than follow behind. When weak spots appear at the ship’s back (see picture below on the left side), hit them with the swivel guns.

If you get too close, the legendary ship will defend itself by throwing out fire barrels, so it’s important to hit them with your swivel guns either before or directly after you unleash your attack (see picture above, right side). If you’re quick enough, shooting the fire barrels can damage La Dama Negra, too.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to trail behind La Dama Negra consistently, as this slow ship is still faster than your poor old Jackdaw. It’ll sail away, slow down after a while, turn its side to you and fire both its broadside cannons and mortars. This presents a risky but rewarding opportunity; after avoiding the damage with perfect brace, you might be able to ram-dash into the ship’s side. Despite the side armor, this would still deal pretty good damage.

If you’d rather not risk it, simply avoid the damage and try to move behind La Dama Negra again. Whenever you’re not behind La Dama Negra, just try to avoid its side (apart from the ram-dash opportunity) and keep firing your mortars — the ship is way too sluggish to evade them.

Once La Dama Negra is down to two-thirds and one-third of its HP, it’ll sail away from you and launch an intense, continuous rain of fire mortars. It’s really hard to avoid them, so you’ll have to rely on perfect brace here. Sail straight toward the legendary ship and start firing mortars as soon as it comes within range; the ship won’t move while the special attack remains active.
