The “Claiming What’s Due” quest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced requires stealth and patience. Rather than force your way into the prison, in search of the captured Sage, it’s best to take the long way — without alerting the guards. Let’s find Edward the prize he so rightfully deserves.
Here’s how to complete the “Claiming What’s Due” quest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
‘Claiming What’s Due’ quest walkthrough
“Claiming What’s Due” starts in Havana, after completing a quest named “A Man They Call the Sage.” This is the second major stealth challenge, following the Havana-based “And My Sugar?” quest.
Following a chat with Stede Bonnet, sneak into the large garden to the west. If you turn your back to Bonnet, you’ll see a gap in the wall to your left (left of the main entrance).
Climb on top of the building to your right to get a good overview of the garden’s layout. To reach the mansion without alerting the guards, continue to the right (sneaking behind the guards at the main entrance), then hug the wall as you move past the watchtower in a counterclockwise direction. The arrows in this picture show the correct route:
So, as you see the watchtower in front of you, continue right (stick to the bushes) and keep going, passing the small building and the campfire with the two soldiers until the large stone staircase appears on your right side.
Walk upstairs and take cover in the bushes directly in front of you, as there’ll be many soldiers in this area. See the building on the left? Make sure the soldier circling this building has turned his back, then climb the roof.
On the other side, wait for the soldier to pass again (or assassinate him), jump into the haystack, and use the crates to climb the wall ahead. Hide in the bushes to eavesdrop on the soldiers.
You’ll learn that the warden may know the Sage’s whereabouts. To find the warden, sneak toward the tower on your right and use the lift (a wooden platform attached to a rope) to reach its roof. From there, peer down to eavesdrop on the warden, who, as you’ll discover, is carrying the prison key.
Once the warden has finished his speech, the soldiers will disperse, and the warden will patrol the northeast corner of the building in a counterclockwise direction. You can assassinate him from the rooftop to obtain the prison key, but make sure there are no witnesses.
To reach the best assassination spot, cross the eastern courtyard exit, sneak past the soldier on the roof, and lie in wait above the tall ladder. You might want to unlock the viewpoint (fast travel point) on the roof before you jump down.
Now that you’ve obtained the prison key, continue west to rescue the Sage. There’s only one soldier in your way; he’s circling the building’s northwest corner counterclockwise (similar to the warden), so be sure to follow behind him. No one’s guarding the prison door.
Unlocking the prison door triggers a cutscene to conclude Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced‘s “Claiming What’s Due” quest, which has only one quest outcome. Following the cutscene, “The Treasure Fleet” will begin.
