Samsung Wallet now doubles as an Anytime Fitness access pass in Singapore

Samsung Wallet will soon become a little more useful for Galaxy users in Singapore, with its latest update adding Anytime Fitness access passes, new merchant promotions and more ways to earn Samsung Rewards Points.

For starters, Anytime Fitness members can now add their Access Pass directly to Samsung Wallet, which allows them to enter participating gyms using a Galaxy device. This means members no longer need to carry the physical access card or key fob.

On its own, the addition may seem fairly minor but it is another step towards Samsung turning Wallet into more than just a payment platform. Access passes and other digital credentials can now sit alongside credit cards and services that Galaxy users may already rely on every day.

Samsung is also introducing a series of S$8 merchant deals through the Promotions section of Samsung Wallet. Participating merchants today include F&B outlets such as Birds of Paradise and Wingstop, though the exact offers and their availability may vary.

The existing Samsung Rewards programme remains part of the package. Galaxy users can earn points on eligible Samsung Wallet transactions, including up to 30 Samsung Rewards Points when paying for public transport through SimplyGo. Galaxy users can also tap their devices at fare gates and on buses without first unlocking the phone or opening the Samsung Wallet app.

As with other mobile payment services, Samsung Wallet uses tokenisation to avoid exposing a user’s actual card details during a transaction. It is also protected by Samsung Knox, the company’s security platform that monitors Galaxy devices for malware and other threats.
