The standard iPhone 17 remains sold out five weeks after launch

More than five weeks after the iPhone 17 series went on sale, the standard iPhone 17 remains sold out with extended delivery dates.

A check on the local Apple Online Store shows that all colour and storage configurations of the iPhone 17 have estimated delivery dates between November 11 and November 18. They are also not available for pickup at all three Apple Stores at the time of publication.

This contrasts with previous years, when only the Pro models were the ones in high demand, often requiring customers to wait weeks for delivery. This time, both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are in high demand. All three finishes and four storage capacities are sold out, though the iPhone 17 Pro to a lesser extent than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Expected delivery dates for the iPhone 17 Pro currently stand at 3 to 5 November, while customers who want the larger iPhone 17 Pro Max will have to wait until 12 to 19 November.

The limited local availability of the iPhone 17 reflects reports of stronger-than-expected consumer demand. During the pre-order period, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted that demand for the iPhone 17 outpaced last year’s lineup, with shipping dates slipping by at least a week despite higher production volumes.

In a report published in late September, The Information revealed that two Apple suppliers had to increase daily production of the standard iPhone 17 by at least 30% to keep up with demand.

Market research firm Omdia corroborates these reports, stating that robust early demand helped Apple achieve its highest-ever Q3 shipment figures.

With double the base storage at the same starting price as its predecessor, a slightly larger 120Hz display, and the same Centre Stage front camera as the Pro models, it’s no surprise the iPhone 17 is selling like hotcakes.
