How to Get Ampharosite in Pokemon Legends Z-A

In order to Mega Evolve Ampharos in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, players will need the Ampharosite Mega Stone, an item that is locked behind main story progression in the base game. Mega Evolution is a big jump in strength for Ampharos, and players who have kept the shiny Mareep from Side Mission 17 as a member of their main party will want to know how to get their hands on it quickly.

Luckily, the process of finding the Ampharosite is fairly straightforward once you know what to do. Here’s the breakdown.

How to Get Ampharosite in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Ampharosite is obtained as a reward for defeating Rogue Mega Ampharos during Main Mission 23 just south of Wild Zone 4, which becomes available after players have completed Main Mission 20: A Request from the Rust Syndicate.

During this mission, players will be directed to the Rouge District to meet up with Naveen in order to face off against the Rogue Mega Ampharos together. After defeating Gwynn of the Fist of Justice, the holovator leading to the rooftops where Rogue Mega is located will be unlocked, allowing players to progress to the next section.

Gwynn’s Pokemon are all Ghost-types, which all have a 2x weakness to Ghost and Dark-type attacks.

Mega Evolution is key to dealing appreciable damage to Ampharos during this fight, which can only be achieved by using super effective Plus moves against the Pokemon. However, Mega Ampharos gains the Dragon typing when it evolves, going from a pure Electric-type Pokemon to an Electric/Dragon-type. Naturally, this means its weaknesses and resistances change accordingly.
