“Obviously, if people want to buy more flowers, great, but that’s not the goal or intention,” Australian artist Cj Hendry said of the frenzy surrounding her Flower Market exhibition. The event at Gardens by the Bay saw throngs of visitors snatching up flower plushies and jacked up listings appearing on Carousell after. “I would like people to walk in orderly. I’d like [them] to pick their 1 flower for free, and then f*ck off,” she added. “But that doesn’t always happen.” Another principle for the artist was for her exhibition to have almost no rules or constraints, as she wanted people to experience her art however they wanted, rather than being told what to think. Hendry was sharing her thoughts at a media Q&A before the preview of another upcoming exhibition, juju world. The experience is built around juju, an AI-designed character she used ChatGPT to create. Anchored by a giant inflatable juju, the Singapore exhibition aims to be an immersive universe with a sea of yellow balls and “playful environments”. The experience will be held at IMBA Theatre, Gardens by the Bay and runs from Jun. 20-Jul. 18, 2026. mothershipnews
