iPhone 17 misses two Siri AI features in iOS 27

The first feature is a more expressive Siri voice. Apple has enhanced Siri’s speech capabilities by allowing users to adjust the assistant’s tone, pacing, and level of expressiveness, resulting in a more natural and personalised conversational experience.

The second is an upgraded dictation engine. Apple says it delivers more accurate speech-to-text conversion while automatically handling punctuation, capitalisation, and formatting. The system is also designed to better understand context across apps, messages, documents, and even images, making voice input more seamless and reliable.

Fortunately, the iPhone 17 is not being left behind entirely. Alongside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series, it will continue to support the vast majority of Siri AI features introduced in iOS 27. These include personal context awareness, on-screen awareness, broader world knowledge, deeper app integration, and the new Siri mode in Camera.

iOS 27 is scheduled to launch later this year and will be available for the iPhone 11 and newer, as well as the iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). However, as Apple continues to push the boundaries of on-device AI, it’s likely that owners of future iPhones may find RAM capacity to be just as important as processor performance when it comes to accessing the latest features.
