One of the standout additions to the Photos app is Extend, a feature that intelligently expands the area around a subject. It can be used to create different aspect ratios, straighten photos, or add more space without cropping important details. For Lock Screen wallpapers, this means images can fit the display more naturally while preserving their original composition.

For users who prefer a cleaner aesthetic, iOS 27 introduces a compact clock option that sits alongside the date at the top of the Lock Screen. This alternative layout frees up more space for wallpapers and widgets, offering a less intrusive look compared to the traditional large, centred clock.

iOS 27 will be available later this year for iPhone 11 and later models, and the iPhone SE (2nd gen and later).
